Kings Cross Thameslink
The large posters in the window announce that this station will close from 9th December with First Capital Connect Thameslink Route services transferred to a new station built under St Pancras International. Many will be relieved; not only is this station inconveniently located on an unprepossessing stretch of Pentonville Road, but the facilities are inadequate for the numbers of passengers using it.

London: Pentonville Road
This shows the western end of the road, looking east. This part of Pentonville Road is one-way, eastbound, so the bus in the distance, which is emerging from Caledonian Road, will have to cross Pentonville Road, and then turn right into Gray's Inn Road, in order to gain access to Euston Road at King's Cross station.

Junction of Pentonville and Gray's Inn Roads, with lighthouse
An easily-missed landmark outside King's Cross station, this replica 'lighthouse' atop the apex of these roads seems to possess no authoritative provenance. It is hypothesized to have marked an oyster bar in the building below (which is or was owned by P&O ferries - hence the nautical connection perhaps).

London Kings Cross Thameslink railway station (site), 2009
Opened in 1863 as "Kings Cross Metropolitan" on what is now the London Underground, this station became part of the Thameslink route in 1983. It closed in 2007 when it was replaced by an expanded St. Pancras station complex.
View from Pentonville Road, 2 years after closure. The flat-roofed entrance building was constructed around 1981.
