Northward up High Road North Finchley at Tally-Ho Corner, after heavy snowfall, 1962
Woodhouse Road was to the right. This was 30 December 1962 and the beginning of one of the 'worst winters in living memory', but the buses got through.

Christ Church, North Finchley
The first part of the present church to be completed was the nave which was consecrated on 9th April 1869. The rest of the building was completed in stages as funds permitted. The first addition was the north aisle which was completed in 1874, followed by the south aisle in 1880. Work on the chancel was completed in the 1890s. Plans were laid for full transepts and a substantial tower with spire, but these were never built.

Christ Church - North Finchley
Built in 1870 to the design of J.Norton, the church features a rather splendid rose window. The aisles are unusual in that they are roofed at rightangles to their alignment, resulting in 5 peaks along their length. Originally there were mini-spires between each of these roofs but they have been removed at some time in the past. The porch below the rose window was added in an attempt to prevent draughts.
