Betstyle Road
Seen from the Bowes Road end. The road crossing from right to left is Cranbrook Lane.
New Southgate is a relatively new name for the area. This road takes its name from the village of Betstyle that was located here in the past. The same applies to Betstyle Circus.

New Southgate Telephone Exchange
Situated in Marconi Place N11 1PE, this TE serves New Southgate plus Friern Barnet nearby. It used to have ENTerprise numbers until the late 1960s, but now has 0208-361 and 368 xxxx numbers, plus some Outer London numbers. The original building can be seen to the right of the photo with the words "TELEPHONE EXCHANGE" above the entrance door. Above the wall to the left of the photo can be seen barbed wiring presumably to prevent unauthorised access to the TE area. Also, a BT warning notice can be seen on the wall below a 5 mph speed limit notice.
