Forests of estate agent signs are a common sight in the more gentrified parts of inner London. The one-bedroom flat for sale in this Victorian mansion block on Cloudesley Street has an asking price in excess of £300,000.

Liverpool Road, Islington: west side, view south
Seen from a point just across the road from Old Royal Free Place (once the entrance to the hospital of that name).
The first few houses - with tall first-floor windows - date from the early 1800's. Further along, the houses with chimneys showing are replacements, probably made necessary by WW2 bomb damage.

Cloudesley Place, Islington
Traditional belisha beacons on Cloudesley Place at its junction with Liverpool Road. Belisha beacons were first introduced in 1934 by Leslie Hore Belisha, then Minister of Transport, but they are now less common than they once were.

Old Royal Free Hospital, Islington
When the new Royal Free was built in Hampstead I thought it was to replace the old and decaying Hampstead General, but found this was the original, and actually represented both a replacement in Hampstead and a merger. In London at least that was the sign of things to come.
