Carstairs station and yards, 1986
View SE, towards Carlisle and the south, also Edinburgh leftwards from a junction just out of sight beyond the Carriage Yards - where earlier there had also been the Locomotive Depot. Carstairs Loco Movements
Class 47, 47635 runs onto Carstairs stabling point. The loco carries the white West Highland Terrier symbol which was adopted by its home depot of Eastfield and relates to the depot being responsible for operating the West Highland Line. The sign on the left reminds drivers of electric locomotives not to enter the sidings (there is no overhead line equipment there). On the right are other locomotives waiting between duties. The bridge crossing the tracks carries Station Road.
