Southlands Unit, Rook Lane
Tucked away behind the new houses in Rook Close is the Southlands Unit. The unit occupies new buildings, as well as this small "leftover" from the former Keycol Hospital (now demolished). The Southlands Unit provides a service for carers of those suffering from memory affecting illnesses (such as dementia). The aim of the service is to help alleviate the pressure and burden of care that friends and family members often find themselves laden with when supporting someone affected by such illnesses.

This compound, just off the A2 at Keycol Hill is owned by Southern Water. What might be in those blue tanks that requires this level of security?!

Demelza House Children's Hospice
It is increasingly common to see brand new buildings designed to look like old farm buildings, this one pretends to be an oast and barn.

Entrance to Keycol Hospital
The hospital has gone, now replaced with a small estate of "executive" houses. The entrance gateposts, wrought iron fence and walls remain - alongside the A2 at Keycol Hill.

Inviting-looking stile
This old gate, stile and footpath sign are alongside the A2, Keycol Hill. Five yards over the stile, the path becomes a very muddy ploughed field with no indication as to which way the path goes.
