Tucked away behind the new houses in Rook Close is the Southlands Unit. The unit occupies new buildings, as well as this small "leftover" from the former Keycol Hospital (now demolished). The Southlands Unit provides a service for carers of those suffering from memory affecting illnesses (such as dementia). The aim of the service is to help alleviate the pressure and burden of care that friends and family members often find themselves laden with when supporting someone affected by such illnesses.
