Bredgar C of E Aided Primary School
Standing on Bexon Lane between the church of St John Baptist http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1093 and Image the school dates from 1868 and was founded by the Thatcher charity, William Thatcher of London who died in 1718 left £100 to be invested in land for the teaching of eight poor children. The school has gone from strength to strength since it was threatened with closure in the 1980s and in 2005 saw the opening of a new classroom building.

The bread lady
A sculpture constructed from bread and wire in the garden of Bredgar CE (aided) Primary School. The birds don't seem to be attracted by it - I doubt the modelled bits (presumably salt dough) would be very palatable but I'm surprised they haven't nibbled at the baguette arms or the toast skirt. The church of St John the Baptist is visible in the background.

August Bank Holiday weather
A sudden thundery downpour turned The Street into a stream just before midday. A couple of hours later the sun and wind had dried it out completely.
