Entrance to Lorenden Park, near Painters Forstal
Looking towards Eastling Road. Lorenden was a country house which was sold and opened as a preparatory school. A large portion of the grounds has been made into a country park open to the public.

Old bridge, Lorenden Park, Painters Forstal
Once it spanned a stream, now dried up. It ran from Whitehill, northwards along Water Lane. When the M2 motorway was built in 1965, Water Lane was rebuilt south of the A2 and the stream diverted into a culvert under the road. This led to its complete disappearance. Entrance to Lorenden Park, Painter's Forstal
Lorenden Parkland Trust was set up in 1991 by Robert Midlane to conserve the historic Lorenden Parkland Estate, which dates back to the 12th century. This entrance is in Eastling Road on the east side of the park.

Clematis vitalba is a common sight at roadsides. Its fluffy white awns give rise to its common name of Old Man's Beard.

Teasels in Lorenden Park, Painters Forstal
By the stream bed, now dried up. It ran from Whitehill, northwards along Water Lane. When the M2 motorway was built in 1965, Water Lane was rebuilt south of the A2 and the stream completely diverted into a culvert under the road. This led to its complete disappearance. The old bridge that spanned the stream can be seen to the right with Eastling Road in the background.

Sorry tunnels at Whitehill
These polytunnels at the junction of Plumford Road with Brogdale Road at Whitehill look somewhat neglected. This is the western edge of the square, the house is in TQ9959.

Primroses at Lorenden, Painters Forstal
The primroses are beginning to appear along with early daffodils. The snowdrops are now fading. Lorenden Park Trust was set up in 1991 by Robert Midlane to conserve the historic Lorenden Parkland Estate, which dates back to the 12th century, and to protect the wildlife.
