Elverland Lane
Looking up the hill towards Elverland. This narrow lane is typical of the many which run up from the more major (though still fairly narrow and winding) roads which tend to follow valleys up the dip slope of the North Downs.

A fine crop of thistles
Uncultivated land south of Elverland Lane. There seem to be a number of small-holdings this side of the lane, some better tended than others.

Double bend
On Elverland Lane - the lane continues along the visible hedge line. I'm told these double right-angled bends, often found on country lanes, relate to ploughing headlands and the turning circle of a horse-drawn plough but I've never been able to see how that works, especially on a field of this shape. Maybe there were trees and the original track took the line of least resistance.
