The Millstone
A J W Lees' pub on Thomas Street. It dates back to 1794 and was at one time a Wilsons house. http://pubs-of-manchester.blogspot.co.uk/2010/12/139-millstone-thomas-st.html

Northern Quarter, The Millstone
City-centre pub on Thomas Street. Internally, pure 1970s, with customers to match; no sign of students or alternative young people found elsewhere nearby. Consequently a friendly atmosphere. Bar to back and left; drinking and eating areas front and right, games machines. Cask ales on offer at my visit: Lees Bitter, Marble Old Guvner. Mr Manchester on Tib Street
This substation, at the corner of Tib Street and Thomas Street in the heart of Manchester's Northern Quarter, has developed something of a cult following in recent years. Once an inconspicuous brick building, it has been used as a canvas by some of Manchester's most talented street artists.
The latest mural to adorn its wall is the impressive image of Tony Wilson by street artist Akse in tribute to the famous Manchester music mogul. The mural shows a relaxed-looking Wilson, also known as Mr Manchester https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Wilson , staring out from behind a pair of black-rimmed glasses.
The building is managed by The Outhouse; an outdoor project space for public art.

Street Art on the Tib Street Substation
The former electricity substation outside the Tib Street multi-storey car park in the heart of Manchester's Northern Quarter is managed by The Outhouse, an outdoor project space for public art, and has developed something of a cult following in recent years. The once-inconspicuous brick building has been used as a canvas by some of Manchester's most talented street artists.
This colourful artwork inspired by nature is by street artist Ketones S6000 (Jerome Davenport). It originally covered all four sides of the Tib Street substation although one side has since been overpainted by a portrait of charity campaigner Nicola Mendelsohn by Akse_P19 (

This portrait of charity campaigner Nicola Mendelsohn (@nicolamen) is by Akse_P19 (@akse_p19) the Manchester-based street artist who is known for his photorealistic portraits of pop culture icons. It has been created for the Follicular Lymphoma Foundation https://www.theflf.org/ to raise awareness of their work in trying to find a cure for this disease. Follicular Lymphoma is currently an incurable blood cancer that affects thousands of people but is little-known. Nicola, who attended Manchester High School for Girls, was diagnosed in 2016 and made the news public on World Cancer Day in 2018.
