This substation, at the corner of Tib Street and Thomas Street in the heart of Manchester's Northern Quarter, has developed something of a cult following in recent years. Once an inconspicuous brick building, it has been used as a canvas by some of Manchester's most talented street artists. The latest mural to adorn its wall is the impressive image of Tony Wilson by street artist Akse in tribute to the famous Manchester music mogul. The mural shows a relaxed-looking Wilson, also known as Mr Manchester https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Wilson , staring out from behind a pair of black-rimmed glasses. The building is managed by The Outhouse; an outdoor project space for public art.
