Moston station becoming derelict
By February 1989, the main building's rendering had disappeared and the waiting room had had all breakables removed, effectively leaving a brick-lined space. In terminal decline.

Moston station, looking north
View north from Moston station's Manchester-bound platform, taken around 15.00 on a very wet April 9th, 2008. First bridge is Hollinwood Avenue (A6104); the second is the M60 motorway. Pylon visible through the bridge effectively marks the site of the former Chadderton electricity generating station, now Broadway business park.

Moston railway station, Greater Manchester, 2009
Opened in 1879 by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway on its line from Manchester Victoria to Rochdale. View south towards Manchester in deceptively verdant surroundings, some 8 years before the platform shelters were replaced. See Image for a 2019 view in the opposite direction.

Moston station, looking north 1989
By 1989 New Moston was an area in rapid decline. Moston station echoed that decline with reduced facilities and an increasingly derelict appearance. The weather had to be truly atrocious to make one use the breeze block shelter on the Rochdale platform. An absence of tall chimneys over the brow of Hollinwood Avenue bridge indicates that Chadderton power station has been demolished.

Moston station, looking north 1983
Leeds - Manchester Victoria train arrives at Moston early in 1983. Little had changed at Moston since the 1960s, though the colour light signal was new in 1974 after the demise of Moston Junction signalbox.

Moston station 1977
Moston station from the footpath to the east of the railway cutting. Beyond the station is a petrol station selling National Benzole fuel and a private preparatory school. Rapid vegetation growth since the 1980s make this view unrepeatable, though the station is still in use, minus both buildings shown.
