Blackfriars House, Parsonage Gardens, Manchester
Another one of those Portland stone monsters so beloved of the Edwardians and builders between the wars. The bow is an unusual touch. This one is by Harry S. Fairhurst, 1925, for the Bleachers' Association.
The Bleachers were, I believe, cleaned out at some point and this building now offers office space to anyone willing to pay the rent.

Former Fairburn House and Blackfriars Bridge, Manchester
The bridge, which carries Blackfriars Street over the River Irwell, dates from 1818-20, the work of Thomas Wright, who won a competition. "Three stately arches with coupled Ionic columns arising from cutwaters". Grade II listed.
Catching the sun behind is Fairburn House, now the Renaissance Hotel, built as offices by local practice, Cruickshank & Seward, 1972, in their favoured white concrete.
