Abundant yellow

The River Irwell at Radcliffe
The level is still quite full following recent unseasonal rain, but not as high as it was a couple of weeks ago. The nearest bridge carries Pilkington Way which is a mini bypass for the town. The tower of St Thomas's Church is to the left.

Radcliffe Horizon
Conceptual artist Lawrence Weiner originally made this work in 1998 using the materials of Language and Steel, for a site in Hull as part of the arts festival transpennine98. When it was at risk of destruction it was transferred to Radcliffe where it was resited in the town centre on the river wall by Radcliffe Bridge. The sculpture has been reconfigured to respond to its new location in the heart of Radcliffe, ever changed by the rise and fall of the water.
