The Airport Line Has Landed
The new Metrolink extension to Manchester Airport opened to passengers on Monday, 3 November 2014 - more than 12 months ahead of schedule. To herald this, Metrolink placed copies of this poster at stops and stations across the network; this one is at the Roundthorn stop on Southmoor Road.

Airport Tram at Roundthorn
Metrolink Bombarier M5000 tram 3062 picks up passengers from the outbound platform at the Roundthorn tram stop. The Roundthorn tram stop has two facing platforms to the east of Southmoor Road, just to the north of Hollyedge Road. Located outside and sponsored by the Medicines Evaluation Unit (MEU) at Wythenshawe Hospital, Sneezebee Image was created by Pam Smart, Michelle Turton and Lizzie Rose Chapman. "Magnified pollen grains reflect the unit's close links and experience in the field of allergy and respiratory research. This Bee will remain here as a landmark for the valued volunteers who visit the MEU to take part in clinical research and for families and visitors to the hospital."
