Up coal train passing Leagrave
View NW, towards Bedford and the North: ex-Midland Main Line from St Pancras. Photographed from a train on the Down Fast approaching Leagrave station, is one of the countless trains that processed up from Toton Yard via Wellingborough to Brent Sidings at Cricklewood, with coal for London and the SR. This one is headed by quite new BR Standard 9F 2-10-0 No. 92018 (built 11/54, withdrawn 5/67).

Leagrave railway station
Trains from Leagrave are scheduled to take 40 minutes to reach Kings Cross Thameslink station, and are currently opearated by First Capital Connect.
The 1888 Ordnance Survey map shows the station in glorious isolation serving a few farms (Townend, Smith's and Stranger's) and cottages along what is now Leagrave High Street.
