Substation on Kendal Lane
A fairly substantial stone-faced structure, unusual for an urban substation. Probably built to serve Denison Hall, in the grounds of which the houses behind the substation have been built.

Denison Hall, Leeds
The house was built by William Lindley of Doncaster for John Wilkinson in 1786 in the remarkably short period of 101 days. Wilkinson adopted the name Denison after the uncle who bequeathed him the cost of it. It was occupied by several wealthy gentleman over the next 150 years including William Gott, but became a maternity home during and after World War II, and later a nursing home. Its current use is not clear. The building is grade II* listed (list entry 1256073).

Denison Hall, Hanover Square, Leeds
A delightful Georgian house, built in 1786 for a wealthy merchant, John Wilkinson Denison, to the designs of William Lindley. The centre block, which is flanked by bowed wings, has five bays, the central three of which are emphasised by blind arches on the ground floor, Ionic pilasters, a pediment containing a coat of arms and swags and, finally, three urns. Grade II* listed.
The house is now flats and most of its grounds a public park.

Denison Hall, Hanover Square
A substantial mansion, built in 1786 for John Denison by architect William Lindley of Doncaster. He lived here for only 2 years. In 1823, the then owner, George Rawson commissioned the building of Hanover Square from Watson and Pritchett, although only a handful of houses were built to the original specifications. Denison Hall served time as a nursing home but has now been converted to apartments. Listed Grade II*.

Plaque on the gatepost of Denison Hall
The plaque gives a brief account of the building of the house for John Wilkinson in 1786 in the remarkably short period of 101 days. The hall itself Image is grade II* listed but this gatepost and its pair are listed grade II, being built a little later in c.1823 (list entry 1256080).
