Response (4 Sep 2025)Update on previous priorities - To monitor/patrol the area along Otley Road whereby Right Turns are prohibited and take enforcement action against drivers committing this offence.
- The area was monitored regularly and any drivers found to be committing illegal turns were dealt with via engagement or tickets.
- To maintain a police presence in the High Royds estate area to discourage ASB occurring. Visiting and gathering information and intelligence on the group responsible for the current rise in ASB calls.
- Regular patrols were conducted by PC's and PCSO's leading to public engagement and information on those responsible for committing ASB in the area. Youths sighted in the area were engaged with and any youths identified for being responsible for ASB were visited at home. Calls for service in this area have reduced dramatically over the last 3 weeks.
- Conducting high visibility patrols to deter shoplifting offenders within the 2 retail park areas. Working alongside shop security to gather evidence and encourage staff to report shoplifting incidents to be investigated.
- Multiple operations including plain clothes operations have taken place at the 2 retail parks to deter/apprehend shoplifters. Arrests and out of court disposals have been used to deal with offenders. Stores are working more closely with the police and and increase of reporting incidents has been noted.

- Parking patrols were regularly conducted by PCSO's prior to the summer holidays. Parking reminders were sent out to parents via schools.
- To conduct parking patrols on and around Henshaw Lane and deal with any offences of vehicles parked not in accordance with the highway code.
- Regular patrols conducted by PC's and PCSO's, warnings were issued to drivers who parked inconsiderately and tickets were issued where appropriate to drivers who were parked illegally. Residents were spoken with regularly and updated with progress.
- To deal with ASB on Yeadon High Street which is impacting local businesses. To work with business owners developing and taking action on reports and intelligence received.

- Any victims of burglaries have been visited along with neighbouring premises who have been provided crime prevention packs and advice. Extra patrols especially into the early hours of the morning have been conducted regularly to deter offenders.

- Regular patrols were conducted by PC's and PCSO's and any relevant offences witnessed were dealt with at the time of the offences being committed.
- Tackling drug-dealing and usage in the area. We will continue to obtain search warrants for addresses suspected to be involved in the cultivation/dealing of drugs.
- Multiple warrants have been carried out in the area with drugs recovered and arrests made of suspects involved in the cultivation of drugs.
- Enforcement against drunk & disorderly behaviour along the length of the 'Otley Run' in Headingley. We will work alongside partnership agencies to enforce the current Public Space Protection Order (PSPO). We will also work alongside local businesses who support the 'Otley Run' to maintain communication on problem solving.

We are utilising Operation Snap and the new Safer Roads Media Submissions portal to take action against the increasing number of submissions of footage in relation to driving offences that members of the public have witnessed. Anti-Social Behaviour/Drug related issues There has been an increase in reports of drug related ASB in public spaces. The reports suggest that there are frequent gatherings of drug users at locations causing disruptive behaviour and that individuals are buying and using drugs in public spaces. This is causing community concern and distress to local residents. Along with the reports of drug taking there is also an increase in ASB associated with such matter and littering and noise nuisance are a concern. The priority is, in conjunction with partners, to deal with drug related offences, and associated ASB in and around the highlighted locations. Retail Crime We will be focusing on tackling thefts from local businesses and retail premises, as well as addressing reports of individuals begging near shopfronts, which has been causing concern for staff and customers. Anti-Social Behaviour/Drug related issues There has been an increase in reports of drug related ASB in public spaces. The reports suggest that there are frequent gatherings of drug users at locations causing disruptive behaviour and that individuals are buying and using drugs in public spaces. This is causing community concern and distress to local residents. Along with the reports of drug taking there is also an increase in ASB associated with such matter and littering and noise nuisance are a concern. The priority is, in conjunction with partners, to deal with drug related offences, and associated ASB in and around the highlighted locations. Retail Crime We will be focusing on tackling thefts from local businesses and retail premises, as well as addressing reports of individuals begging near shopfronts, which has been causing concern for staff and customers. Response (29 May 2026)- High‑Visibility Patrols and Partnership Working to Prevent Acquisitive Crime
To provide reassurance to the community and deter would‑be offenders, officers will conduct regular high‑visibility patrols in key areas affected by acquisitive crime, including vehicle theft and theft from motor vehicles. These patrols will focus on crime hotspots, areas with repeat victims, and locations identified through intelligence or community feedback. Officers will actively engage with residents to offer tailored crime‑prevention advice, encourage reporting, and promote improved vehicle security.
In addition, the team will collaborate closely with specialist departments such as Crime Prevention Officers, the Stolen Vehicle Unit, and Intelligence teams to identify patterns, target known offenders, and support problem‑solving activity. The overarching aim is to reduce opportunities for acquisitive crime, improve community confidence, and create long‑term prevention strategies within the locality.

To enhance the safety of both motorists and pedestrians, officers will take proactive and targeted action against road traffic offences within the locality. This includes specific focus on drivers breaching No Entry restrictions, speeding—particularly in and around Low Lane—and vehicles causing obstruction near schools during busy drop‑off and pick‑up times.
High‑visibility policing around schools will form a key part of this work, supported by engagement with headteachers, school staff, and parents/carers. Officers will deliver road safety education, encourage responsible parking, and signpost to safer travel options. When required, enforcement activity will be undertaken to address persistent problem behaviours. The aim is to improve compliance with traffic regulations, reduce collision risks, and protect vulnerable road users, especially children.
- Targeted Patrols and Joint Operations to Tackle Shoplifting at Retail Parks
Officers will conduct high‑visibility patrols across both retail park areas to provide a clear deterrent to shoplifting and associated offending. Engagement with shop staff and security teams will continue to build strong working relationships, encourage timely reporting, and support evidence‑gathering such as CCTV, statements, and offender descriptions.
Multiple operations have already taken place, including plain‑clothes deployments aimed at identifying and apprehending active offenders. These initiatives have resulted in arrests, positive outcomes, and the use of out‑of‑court disposals where appropriate. Feedback from stores indicates closer cooperation with police, and an increase in reporting has been noted as confidence grows.
