Central Methodist Church, Horsforth
A datestone Image gives the original build date of 1846 - and indeed it is shown as a chapel on the 1851 map - and "rebuilt 1911". The round-headed windows certainly look more in keeping with the later date.

Plaque on Central Methodist Church, Horsforth
The datestone gives the original name as a Primitive Methodist Chapel (Grove Methodists further down the road were Wesleyans) and a build date of 1846. See Image for a wider context.

Demolition, 96 Town Street (1)
I've heard variously that this building is being completely demolished, or that the walls will be kept. Apartments and retail units will be built on the site. When I first moved to Horsforth in the early 1980s, this was Stotts the plumbers, which also sold kitchen goods, china etc. Then a cafe was opened, and in its later years it was just a cafe. It's been empty for 2 or 3 years. See also Image] and also, 2 weeks later, Image], Image] Image] and Image] and 8 years earlier Image]

Nearly complete, 96 Town Street (4)
New shops have arisen on the site of Stotts the plumbers, and are reasonably well in keeping with other buildings on Town Street. See Image] Image] Image] Image]

Complete, but empty, 96 Town Street (5)
All the builders equipment has been removed from the front of these new shops and they seem just about ready for use. In the current economic climate they may stay empty for some time. See Image] Image] Image] Image]
