Road construction, Aston Road (bottom section)
The road was being resurfaced by contractors working for Leeds City Council. Unlike the upper section of the road Image this lower section does not have stone setts under the tarmac. Looking at old maps it's not clear when the lower section of the road was actually developed: even in 1908 the road is shown coming down to this point but with no housing around it below Snowden Crescent, and the situation is the same in 1921 and 1935; only by 1957 is the lower housing shown.

Reddening sky over the Astons
Looking up the hill from the Raynville estate in Bramley towards the older houses of Aston Avenue and surrounding streets, with a red sky forming (the actual sunset was to the right of the photo, in the north-west).

Houses on Aston Grove, Bramley
The design of these houses is unusual but makes use of the sloping site, with integral ground floor garages at the front, the entrance being up steps to what becomes the ground floor at the rear.
