Window detail Roughton Church
In the south wall of this simple little country church there is a lovely stained glass memorial window. The figure in this photo appears to be The Angel of the Lord. The window is dedicated to a former rector - Henry Spurrier who died on February 7th 1954.

St.Margaret's church, Roughton, Lincs.
A fascinating archaeological puzzle and all the clues are on the outside ! There's just about everything from 12th century Norman to early 17th century brick. Obvious Transitional N & S blocked doorways in the wrong place, so the tower is later and further west, I spotted a re-set Norman capital in the NW corner of the nave wall.

Roughton Church
Well off the beaten track, the Church of St Margaret seems to blend into the Lincolnshire countryside. It is grade II* listed and designated an ancient monument. The chancel dates from the 13th century and the rest mostly from the 15th; it was restored in 1870. The churchyard is noted for its snowdrops but this mid-March view is a little late for that; instead there is a pleasing clump of daffodils.
