List of the former pupils of Llangefni Grammar School who died in the Great War
It is noticeable that many of these pupils came from outside the town, some from as far as Amlwch and Benllech. In those days many of the pupils would have been fee paying. Some of the fallen are recorded as having been killed at Bois Delville ("Devil's Wood) in the Battle of the Somme on the night of 19th-20th July 1916. They would have been members the famous 10th Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers (76th Brigade, 3rd Division), two members of which were awarded the VC for their part in that dreadful night's fighting.

Ysgol Gyfun Llangefni Comprehensive School
Ysgol Gyfun Llangefni was established in 1953 replacing the local grammar and secondary modern schools. It was possibly the first fully comprehensive school set up in Britain. It has over 800 pupils drawn from Llangefni and its rural surrounding area. It is very much a bilingual school.
