Replica Telford Milestone by the A5, Chirk
Carved stone post with metal attachment on the A5, in the Community of Chirk, Wrexham: Bryn-yr-Eos, 100m North West of junction with B5070 on grass verge, South-east side of road. The plate is dated 2003, and the stone and plate are replicas, following the style of others on Telford's route to Holyhead.

Canal and tunnel north of Chirk, Wrexham
Llangollen Canal approaches the south portal of Whitehurst Tunnel. The tunnel, which has a towpath all through it, is wide enough for one boat, and is 191 yards (about 175 metres) long.
Since the 1960s, there appear to be a lot of references to this as Whitehouse Tunnel or even Whitehouses Tunnel. Maybe someone local can send me some information about this.
