The Miners Memorial Statue
This bronze sculpture is situated on the site of the old railway station. It was officially unveiled in 1998 to mark the one hundredth anniversary of the Whitwick Colliery Disaster, in which thirty five men and boys lost their lives. The statue was sculpted by Judith Holmes Drewry.

Site of Coalville Town station,1988
View NW, towards Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Burton-on-Trent: ex-Midland Leicester - Burton secondary main line. The station was closed from 7/9/64 when the passenger service on the route ceased, but the line has remained open for freight and it is planned to reopen a station here.
