The Wolsey Building in Leicester
In the foreground are some christmas decorations at Belgrave Circle, a year earlier, the now demolished Belgrave Flyover would have obscured this view.

The Wolsey Building, Abbey Park Street, Lricester
Former home of the Wolsey Knitwear Company, once the region's largest hosiery manufacturer. The original 1920s building has been renovated to provide apartments and care facilities for the elderly. The original wall with the portrait of Cardinal Wolsey is retained. The cardinal, after whom the company was named, died at the nearby former Leicester Abbey in 1530.

Abbey Mills - Cardinal Wolsey
Although this block of the mills is largely new build apartments, this corner has been retained and built around. Wolsey knitwear is apparently named after Cardinal Wolsey and this particular building is now the Wolsey Building.

Former Abbey Mill in Leicester
Ahead are the former Abbey Mill buildings (dating from 1884) which are being converted to living accommodation for the elderly and vulnerable. This is by the Grand Union Canal/Soar Navigation below Lime Kiln Lock and Bridge No 9. This section is level with the nearby River Soar (off to the right past Frog Island) so is prone to slight flooding when the river is high.
