Brice Memorial Hall notice board, Queens Road, Leicester
The notice board is on the hall's front wall. When photographed, it was displaying a notice for a mini-market to be held on the following morning.
Above the notice board is a simple plaque. This reads: "H.C.B. Bailleul France June 11 1915". The background to this, is that the hall was named as a memorial to Henry Copeland Brice, who was born on the 28th November 1893. He became a lieutenant in the 4th Leicestershire Regiment, which was a Territorial Army battalion. He served in France and Belgium and died at Bailleul in France of war wounds. He was only 21. Lt. Brice was a pupil of Mill Hill School in London from 1907 to 1912. His name and a photograph appear on their Roll of Honour on their Mill Hill at War 1914-1919 website. His parents were Mr & Mrs. Francis Strange Brice, and they presumably were instrumental in the building of the hall.
