Development site on Norman Way, Melton Mowbray
This site facing Norman Way, lies between Charlotte Street and North Street. It has been empty of buildings for some time. Some attempt has been made to protect the trees from the mound of earth created when the site was levelled. There are plans to build four retail units here.

Buildings on Norman Way, Melton Mowbray
The white building has had a varied history since I have lived in the area. 40 years ago I remember it being pretty derelict. It has been a coffee bar, a youth centre and a second hand clothes shop amongst other things. The current business, Financial Advisers, have been there for several years and are keeping it looking smart.

Benches in St Mary's Close surrounded by old gravestones.
This is the site of the old Kings Street cemetery which was opened in 1846 as an extension to the churchyard at St Mary's Church in the town centre. It closed in 1899. Since then all burials have been in Thorpe Road Cemetery. When St Mary's Way was put through during the creation of the Bell Centre in the old Corn Exchange, with the associated car parks and bus stops, St Mary's Close was created as a quiet grassed area and the grave stones were moved to the sides.
