This end of the house is a later addition to the original late 18th century house which consisted of the three visible bays with central doorway. Even earlier (from at least 1710) is the taller section behind with the roof just showing. Listed Grade II.

Clay Street
This represents the western edge of the village before 20th century expansion. Most of the houses would appear to date from the early part of the 19th century, maybe a bit earlier.

Far Street
Looking west from the village centre. The Georgian/early Victorian aspect of this street remains remarkably unchanged, with a significant number of buildings being Listed Grade II. One of these is the low white-painted house to the right, which probably dates back to the 17th century, though later refronted. The taller white building beyond with the hanging sign was formerly the Bulls Head Inn, and is now, appropriately, a butcher's shop.
