Miners' Convalescent Home
Now serving as a nursing home. Still retaining its splendid form, gardens and colourful facade which can be seen from miles away across Morecambe Bay with binoculars. Its striking presence is noticed as you approach round the corner and up the hill on the B5277 Grange to Flookburgh road.

Cartmel Grange
This distinctive large red‑brick building set back on Allithwaite Road near Grange‑over‑Sands was built in 1914 as a miners’ convalescent home under the Working Men’s Club and Institute Union. The facility offered recuperative seaside stays, especially useful for tuberculosis sufferers. A further storey was added in later years.
n 1991, it was transformed into Cartmel Grange Care Home. Now operated by the Brancaster/Cinnabar group, it provides various services: residential nursing, dementia, respite, and palliative care.
