Marine Theft – Operation Headway

Response (4 Sep 2025)

Working with boat owners & lake users to encourage reporting of suspicious incidents and conducting joint patrols on & around Windermere and Coniston.
Conducting Crime prevention work with boat owners & lake users.
Multi agency patrols conducted on Windermere and we continue to work with our partners within Westmorland and Furness Council and the Lake District National Park to improve security, and to prevent and detect offences.

20 Oct 2025

We have received reports of a number of house burglaries in the Grange and Burton in Kendal area's. These crimes involved thieves forcing entry, usually via windows to unoccupied homes when the victims were on holiday or not at home. The thieves have targeted cash and jewellery inside the addresses.

The investigation of all household burglaries is undertaken by Detectives from our CID Department. This remains a priority crime type. The Neighbourhood Policing Team have been supporting these investigations with hi visibility patrol in the affected areas, H2H and CCTV enquiries as well as promoting the FUSUS camera registry.

Cold Callers visiting residential addresses in the area of Levens and Grange over Sands

Response (19 Oct 2026)

Local residents have raised concern about cold callers visiting residential addresses and trying to sell goods. We are advised that they are often forceful in their manner and can be aggressive when asked to leave. Our local officers continue to look for these individuals when on routine patrol. Police will attend all reports, obtain details of persons involved and take positive action. We will work with other agencies such as Trading Standards to address the concern.
