This distinctive large red‑brick building set back on Allithwaite Road near Grange‑over‑Sands was built in 1914 as a miners’ convalescent home under the Working Men’s Club and Institute Union. The facility offered recuperative seaside stays, especially useful for tuberculosis sufferers. A further storey was added in later years. n 1991, it was transformed into Cartmel Grange Care Home. Now operated by the Brancaster/Cinnabar group, it provides various services: residential nursing, dementia, respite, and palliative care.
