George Street alongside The Albany Building
The Albany was built in 1856 as a place for cotton brokers to meet and examine goods. The derricks that are still attached to the building in George Street, and on the other side of the building in Ormond Street, show how bales of cotton could be unloaded from carts and be lowered into the basement area. The Albany is Grade II listed: http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-359185-the-albany- The Albany has been converted into modern apartments.
