The rolling Scottish railway line
If G.K.Chesterton had been a railway enthusiast, might he not have written of "A reeling rail, a rolling rail, that rambles round the shire"? The Kingdom of Fife Railway Preservation Society have taken occupancy of the empty wastes of Kirkland Yard, a former railway marshalling yard on the northern edge of Methil, and have been busy laying a railway track along which they hope eventually to give train rides to the public. This is part of their line during construction. One would strongly hesitate, however, to suggest, as Mr Chesterton might, that the "rolling rail" was laid by "A rolling English [or even Scottish] drunkard".

Levenmouth Rail Link
Looking towards Leven from the now closed pedestrian level crossing in this image https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7710477 we see the new fencing which borders the reinstated railway line which will reconnect Leven to the rest of Scotland's rail network after a gap of several decades https://www.railway-technology.com/projects/levenmouth-rail-link-project-fife-scotland/

Unusual advertising sign
Leaning against the boundary fence of a local supermarket can be found this novel advertising sign. You will notice that there are actually two bicycles here. One of them was previously placed on a nearby roundabout but has been removed, probably at the behest of the local authority.

Levenmouth Rail Link
The old and the new! Sections of the old railway (part of which is used by the Fife Heritage Railway) can still be found here and there running close to the new line.

Detail of railway line securing device
This is how modern railway lines are secured in place. This image is after the line is put in place. This image https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7552350 is before it is in place. These images are part of the Levenmouth Rail Link. Just in case anyone is wondering both these images were taken on the level crossing in this image https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7552308 so no, I didn't trespass on the railway!

Levenmouth Rail Link
This level crossing lies on the Mountfleurie path - a pedestrian right-of-way which crosses what was the old railway. Pedestrians have had free access to this crossing since the railway was removed several decades ago. What will happen to this crossing now that the Levenmouth Rail Link https://www.railway-technology.com/projects/levenmouth-rail-link-project-fife-scotland/ is being reinstated and will run this way is unclear. The houses are in Rosemount Grove.

This level crossing previously gave pedestrians free access to cross the dismantled rail line which used to run from Thornton to Leven https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7552308 but, since the Levenmouth Rail Link https://www.railway-technology.com/projects/levenmouth-rail-link-project-fife-scotland/ is being reinstated, the level crossing has been closed
