Site of Kelty Station
The closed railway from Edinburgh to Perth via Kinross ran through here. Kelty Station was a big junction handling coal traffic from mineral lines from Loch Ore and Halbeath. There were extensive marshalling yards and a colliery in what is now agricultural land. I could see no trace of the railway. There is a car park here serving Loch Ore Country Park.

Path to Loch Ore
A path from a car park near Kelty towards Loch Ore. This is the site of Kelty Station and Aitkin Pit. Kelty Station was huge with a big marshalling yard and handled a lot of the coal traffic from the Fife coalmines.

Farmland near Kelty
The smoothness of the grassland suggests reclamation and this is the site of the Aitkin Pit. A 1950's 1:63360 Ordnance Survey map shows a big colliery here with big buildings and bings linked to the nearby mainline railway. There is a car park here for Loch Ore Country Park and the car park is built on the site of Kelty Station which would have been a busy junction for coal traffic on the main line north from the Forth Bridge to Perth. I noticed no trace of the railway.
