West Horsley Pumping Station
The building is over a hundred years old, and is still a recognised stop on the bus timetables; however, I can't establish whether the pumping station is still operational.

Old Cattle Trough, West Horsley.
On the Epsom Road roundabout, and redolent of days when horses were commonly used for transport. The stone trough carries inscriptions - "Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association" and "Erected Under the Will of Mrs Laura M. Fielder of West Horsley Place". Behind is a brick waterworks building.

Roundabout at West Horsley, Surrey
This roundabout brings back some memories. In May 1980, I was on a sponsored walk from Brighton to Windsor with about 25 others. Sunday was the middle day of the walk, and early evening saw three of us approaching this roundabout from the Ranmore Common direction (right of picture), and heading for West Horsley Village Hall (down the hill to the left of picture). Well; the roads were quieter in those days, and we probably hadn't fully sobered up after the lunch-time session, but we walked a complete circuit of the roundabout before continuing. I decided against attempting to repeat the feat!

A private road giving access out of Shere Road to about half a dozen houses ranged along the north side of the road, and with a communal garden on the south side (the whole being managed by a residents' management company). The west end of the road forms a tee onto West Horsley public footpath 88.

Drinking trough
Former drinking trough on the A246 Epsom Road at West Horsley. The inscription on the side confirms that it was provided by the Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association. That on the end reads "Erected under the will of Mrs Laura M Fielder of West Horsley Place 1909". For wider view see Image
