Kingston upon Thames, Kings Tun
Wetherspoons pub on Clarence Street, in a building which was once the Kingston Empire, dating from 1910. Internally, there is a wide back counter, with eating and drinking areas front, left and right, also upstairs. Silent TV, games machines; ten cask ales were on offer at my visit. The pub is Good Beer Guide-listed. http://www.arthurlloyd.co.uk/Kingston.htm#empire

'Out of Order' sculpture at the end of Old London Road. The telephone boxes, a sculpture by David Mach, were probably not used to ring the fire brigade, who arrived whilst I was taking the photograph. In the background is a Wilko store, one which was to survive the closures announced in early September 2023. Image]

This photo shows twelve K6 red telephone boxes at the west end of Old London Road. There is a notice halfway on the ground which says the following: OUT OF ORDER by DAVID MACH "OUT OF ORDER" was commissioned by the Royal Borough of Kingston and unveiled on 19th December 1989. It was renovated on instruction of the Kingston Town Neighbourhood Committee in 2001. The work was carried out by Unicorn Kiosk Restorations. PLEASE TREAT WITH RESPECT
