Dominating the background is the telephone exchange building, situated at Boswell Park.
Although the telephone exchange is no longer operational, the building is still in use, providing telephone and broadband services to the town of Ayr.

Riverbank Nursery
A long-established town centre nursery, located on the corner of Fort Street and Citadel Lane. The street names come from the Cromwellian fort which was built here in 1652-3.
