A large farm on the southern slope of a low ridge, with a southerly outlook. The map doesn't show a standing stone nearby, so if it was named after such a stone, it may have disappeared.

The obvious image for this square is this farm from the minor road to the south. This is the same farm, but from the edge of the woodland between it and Kirkhill.

Scots Pines (Pinus sylvestris)
I'm so accustomed to seeing Scots Pines either as stunted specimens trying to survive on an exposed moor, or planted close together to force them to grow tall, straight and thin for timber, that it comes as a pleasant shock to see some which have grown in a more benign spot with enough room to branch out into their natural bushy shape.
