Thompson
Since the Second World War, when a large area of the Norfolk breckland was commandeered by the army, Thompson has been a village on the road to nowhere. Old signposts pointing to 'Road closed ahead', as here, reinforce the slightly eerie feel. This is looking along Tottington Road; Tottington was one of the villages evacuated by the army.

Thompson
In common with many other East Anglian villages, Thompson has a distinctive village sign. There is reference to the fact that St Martin's was endowed as a collegiate church in 1350, until the college was dissolved in 1541. This was a period of prosperity and importance for Thompson.
