Barking Methodist Church
Situated in London Road IG11 8AN, this Church is one of a number of Churches in the Barking, Dagenham and Ilford Methodist Circuit. It holds services every Sunday and activities during the week. Behind the Church, a crane can be seen with building work taking place.

Barking Telephone Exchange (1)
Situated in North Street, this TE used to have RIPpleway numbers until the late 1960s. It now has 0208-507, 591 and 594 numbers, plus other Outer London numbers. The postcode of this TE is IG11 8JE.

Barking Telephone Exchange (2)
This photo taken from North Street, shows the TE facing London Road. This TE would probably date from the 1950s or early 1960s when the former GPO, which then had responsibility for the telephone service, had them fitted with Strowger switching equipment. Nowadays, this has been replaced with Digital System X equipment, which doesn't take up so much room as the Strowger equipment did.

Taken from George Street, this photo shows the TE with BT Openreach vans parked in front and mobile phone aerials on its roof. The "Thieves Beware" notice can be seen on the gate, whilst CCTV cameras are fitted on the building.

The old Town Hall, Barking ? 1978
Built in 1893 as Barking's Town Hall before the creation of the Grater London Council, it subsequently became magistrates courts https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3265650 . In 1978 East Street was still a major thoroughfare, but has since become entirely pedestrianised. This part of London was one of the last strongholds of the classic RT bus type, based at Barking Garage, to which RT3254 is heading.
