The Calder & Hebble Navigation Company basin and warehouses. The building in the background is the Grade II Listed No. 2 Warehouse also known as 'The Moorings and Sowerby Marine Ltd'. Built for the company probably 1770.

Bottom end of Bolton Brow, Sowerby Bridge
The lodge on the right is at the entrance to the canal wharf. It was the porter's lodge and was built in 1837. On the left, the first shop has a nice row of arched windows on the first floor. In contrast the Working Men's Club further up has a formidable expanse of blank wall.

Buildings between Bolton Brow and the canal wharf, Sowerby Bridge
These buildings front onto the main road two storeys above the basement doors at wharf level. On the left is the wharf superintendent's house. Next the Methodist Sunday School, and then the former chapel in process of conversion to (probably) apartments. The basement rooms of this were used for stabling etc for the canal wharf. On the right is the oldest surviving warehouse, No.4 built in 1778.

Buildings next to the quay, Sowerby Bridge
These are the backs of buildings along Bolton Brow, the A58, at a higher level. The nearer building is Calder House, listed Grade II, no. 1134548 It was built in 1779 as an agent or manager's house and offices, for the Rochdale Canal Company. The second building is a former Sunday School, listed Grade II, no. 1267920, built 1882-83, and the third the former Methodist chapel and canal warehouse, listed Grade II, no. 1366168. The chapel was built in 1831, and canal warehouse of four storeys made later underneath soon after 1840.
