These are the backs of buildings along Bolton Brow, the A58, at a higher level. The nearer building is Calder House, listed Grade II, no. 1134548 It was built in 1779 as an agent or manager's house and offices, for the Rochdale Canal Company. The second building is a former Sunday School, listed Grade II, no. 1267920, built 1882-83, and the third the former Methodist chapel and canal warehouse, listed Grade II, no. 1366168. The chapel was built in 1831, and canal warehouse of four storeys made later underneath soon after 1840.
