Two houses in Lea
The right-hand building is on land reclaimed from the Gloucester and Ross railway. The stonework across the front is left over from the railway infrastructure.

Railway bridge remains
Railway stonework is very distinctive, and the bottom two or three feet of bridge abutments is often all that is left, as here at the site of Mitcheldean Road station. Most people would drive past this without a second thought, but it positively shouts "dismantled railway" to we old railway people. A shot of the same subject taken in better light, which also includes the old station master's house which still survives here, can be seen in Des Blenkinsopp's Image

House on the Line
What looks like a random shot of a couple of houses, but Old Railways are involved, hence several similar pictures here. For explanation, see John Winders' photo Image

Site of Mitcheldean Road station
This house is roughly where the ends of the platforms once were, as far as I can make out. The whole station site - see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeL0uYzH2hY for a rather unclear, but still evocative, video of the station in 1959 - has been given over to a small housing estate. This is rather wonderfully named "Noden Drive" after Reginald Noden, the station master who was in charge here from the 1940s until the station's closure in 1964.

Brick house at Lea
This building possibly dates to the nearby railway station on the Gloucester to Ross-on-Wye line closed in the 1960's.

Display of prizes
Cups and trophies await the proud winners of the different categories in the Lea Flower, Vegetable & Craft Show. If only my carrots had been ready a bit sooner. At the far end of the marquee, refreshments are being served.

Judging has taken place and it's time to make up your own mind about the results at the Lea Flower, Vegetable & Craft Show, which started as a village fete in 1944.
