View east from Ridge Hill
The hills in the background are the Malverns and the town of Ledbury can be made out in the middle distance. Ridge Hill represents the eastern boundary of the Woolhope Dome, an eroded anticline of older, Silurian rocks rising out of the younger Old Red Sandstone which takes up the flatter landscape in the centre of the picture. The hills around Ledbury are Silurian whereas the Malverns are made of volcanic and metamorphic rocks. Even without geological interest it's still an impressive view.

The town of Ledbury from Ridge Hill
On the horizon, the Malvern Hills with the Herefordshire Beacon (338m) almost in the centre, then a range of unnamed hills behind the town with the prominent spire of the church of St Michael and All Angels. The River Leadon and Preston Brook cut unseen, through the image.
