Hay-on-Wye, The Old Black Lion
This public house is said to have 13th century origins although the present basically U-plan structure is largely 17th century. The front was brought forward in the 18th century and various modern additions have been made. Former Drill Hall, Hay-on-Wye
The white building at 25 Lion Street, formerly a military drill hall, is the box office for the annual Hay Festival, which this year (2012) took place between May 31st and June 10th. A dark green banner on the wall advertises the festival.
