Fallen tree, Stubbing's Wood
This fallen tree has fortunately not blocked the footpath on the western edge of Stubbings Wood, instead forming a sort of natural bridge over it.

Bridge over Duckmore Lane, Tring
A massive bridge for what is a minor country lane. The concrete walls are a natural target for graffiti – and have recently been repainted.

Bridge over Duckmore Lane, Tring
The road sign suggests that drivers can speed up – but the lane beyond the bridge is a narrow country lane where you may well meet horses!

Plough with West Leith beyond.
The field was partially freshly ploughed, and this was probably left here for the ploughing to be continued later. West Leith was a large farm, now converted to rural housing.

Fox Lane, Tring
This is part of an old trackway which was used to define the county boundary a millennium ago, and which can be followed for miles. This was taken as the hawthorn was in flower and the hedgerow bushes were just beginning to show their leaves.

Water trough by a footpath off Duckmore Lane, Tring
This is part of a field which was truncated when the bypass was built, the trees on the left being on the embankment which carries the road over Duckmore Lane. The footpath is the rerouted part of the old footpath that ran from beside Woodland Close to West Leith.

Tring Bypass (A41)
When the bypass was built the plan was that it should be part of a new motorway from London to the Midlands. It was therefore built to motorway standards with a full width hard shoulder. Plans were later changed and the M40 became the chosen route and the road was declassified as the A41. I believe it was the shortest length of unconnected motorway every built.
