Great Missenden railway station
This station first opened on 1 September 1892, and was served by both the London Underground Metropolitan Line and the Great Central Railway.
However, when the London Underground was fully electrified in the 1960s, a decision was made to run only as far as Amersham; one stop short of Great Missenden. This meant Great Missenden is now served by overground only. Services were run by Network SouthEast until privatisation in 1996, when Chiltern Railways took over the franchise.

A Leyland National bus outside Great Missenden Station
Taken in May 1999, this photo shows a Leyland National bus 221 (KPA 372P) in Station Approach HP16 9AZ on route 346 to High Wycombe via Little Kingshill and Cryers Hill. This vehicle is a 49-seater dating from 1975 and is in the light and dark green livery of the former Aldershot & District Traction Co Ltd. That company merged with Thames Valley Traction Co Ltd to form Alder Valley on the 1st January 1972. This particular vehicle has since been privately preserved still being in that livery. However, route 346 has long since been withdrawn.

Great Missenden railway station
The Metropolitan Railway built the line and the station and opened it in 1892. Great Central Railway services operated from 1899 onwards. Chiltern Railways have run the franchise since 1996. This is the view from the Martinsend Lane bridge.
