Footpath approaching North Spring Wood, Thurstonland, Yorkshire
On the maps of 1850 and 1945 this field was part of the wood. The white dot just to the right of the path in the centre of the photo is a notice headed 'University of Huddersfield' (who own the Storthes Hall Estate) stating that anyone walking in the wood does so at their own risk. A nice change from the usual 'Private - keep to the footpath'.

Student Accommodation at Storthes Hall Student Village
Part of the student accommodation village for Huddersfield University. The University itself is in the town centre, about 4 miles away, but a regular dedicated bus service connects the two sites.

Old mill pond in the Range Dike valley, Farnley Tyas, Yorkshire
A hollow surrounded by earth banks and a stream diverted to feed it. This is presumably a water source for the disused Farnley Mill a little way down the valley.

Footbridge over Range Dike, the boundary between Farnley Tyas and Thurstonland, Yorkshire
This is a well-appointed footbridge with good-quality railings and a new-looking kissing-gate. The bridge is a solid stone structure and it would be interesting to know who built in and when - possibly Kirkburton UDC after it was formed in 1925, as I can't imagine the previous Farnley Tyas and Thurstonland UDCs agreeing to share the cost!

The Arboretum, Storthes Hall Student Village
Formerly part of Storthes Hall Psychiatric Hospital, this building was used to manage "difficult to handle" patients. It's now the Bar/Club serving the student accommodation village for Huddersfield University. This is the link to Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storthes_Hall but there are many more.
