Grass terrace for the Westwood Sing, Golcar
Seeing this brought back memories of playing in an orchestra to accompany the Westwood Sing. This was on Sunday 11th July, probably in 1982.

Windy End: new reservoir under construction
Following the demolition of the old reservoir at Windy End Image, a new service reservoir was built on the same site in 1988. For a view of the completed structure see Image Technical notes from the original design statement: a two-compartment reinforced concrete structure of 1500 cu.m nominal capacity. The depth from top water level is 3.9m. The structure is built into a hillside with the flat roof at existing ground level on one side and embankments falling away on the others. The overall design philosophy is that the wall modules are tied together with reinforcement continuous at the joints, thus restraining movement by tension in the horizontal steel and obviating the need for a shear key. Each compartment has clear internal dimensions of 19.0m x 10.5m with a roof supported internally on eight 350mm diameter columns.

Windy End: old reservoir demolished
The original service reservoir at Windy End was an open one, with puddle clay embankments and stone lining internally. At some point it had a steel sheet roof put over it. The reservoir was demolished during 1987 to make way for a new one Image
